First of all, we learn how China has effectively fought the epidemic. The second is China's outstanding development and achievements in the past few decades."

Storyline

The development and progress of the world cannot be separated from China, according to specialists and scholars from some countries.

While addressing the 27th APEC (Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation) Economic Leaders' Meeting on Friday in Beijing via video link, Chinese President Xi Jinping called for jointly building an Asia-Pacific community with a shared future featuring openness, inclusiveness, innovation-driven growth, greater connectivity and mutually beneficial cooperation.

Carlos Aquino, director of the Center for Asian Studies of the National University of San Marcos in Peru, said that China's huge consumer market has driven the recovery of the world economy and provided opportunities for other countries to get out of the downturn. China is committed to opening up, improving the investment environment, expanding mutually beneficial cooperation with its trading partners, and making positive efforts and important contributions to building an Asia-Pacific community with a shared future.

"The development and progress of the world cannot be achieved without China. It's not just the need for a huge market like China. I've been highlighting the importance of China not just because of its consumer market but also because it's a model for countries all over the world to learn from. First of all, we learn how China has effectively fought the epidemic. The second is China's outstanding development and achievements in the past few decades," he said.

Fabio Massimo Parenti, associate professor of international political economy of Medici College in Italy, highly agrees with what President Xi Jinping and the Chinese government have always stressed that the only way to meet global challenges is to promote multilateralism and international cooperation.

"In order to coordinate the multi-faceted international mutual assistance, we can obtain more fair opportunities with less resources, such as eliminating poverty. These are the ideas that China has put forward for many years. China's ideas are more important after the epidemic this year," he said.

Alex Mashilo, spokesperson for South African Communist Party, noted that the concept of a community with a shared future for mankind proposed by Chinese President Xi Jinping is of great practical significance at present.

"And because we are a global community, in a very big way we share a common future. That idea is one of the most powerful ideas that Xi promotes and you will find almost in all his speeches. We learned that now from the coronavirus," he said.
