"China maintains that 5G is the cutting-edge new technology of the fourth industrial revolution, playing leading and platform roles. The development and use of 5G should be made through wide consultation and joint contribution, with its benefits shared by all countries. The acts of classifying technological developments according to ideology in the field of science and technology, creating artificial barriers and even abusing the concept of national security, along with cracking down on specific enterprises and certain countries, violate the basic laws of technological development and are against the common interests of all countries."

The development and use of 5G technology should be shared by all countries, said Foreign Ministry spokesman Zhao Lijian on Wednesday, responding to the pressure from certain U.S. politicians on other countries not to use Chinese 5G equipment.
China has constructed the world's largest fixed and mobile communications networks during its 13th Five-Year Plan period (2016-2020). China's mobile communications technology made a remarkable achievement by progressing from being behind in the 2G era to leading the world in the 5G era. At present, China ranks in the forefront of the global 5G standard essential patent declarations, with over 700,000 5G base stations built and opened across the country.
