Storyline

China’s latest military products are getting a lot of attention at the ongoing 15th International Defense Exhibition and Conference (IDEX) in the United Arab Emirates.

Several Chinese enterprises joined the event as the "China Defense" state delegation, mainly bringing some model exhibits to the exhibition, highlighting eight defense products--the Hongjian-12, SR5 multiple rocket launcher, CM -501GA Multi-purpose Tactical Precision Strike Weapon System, Chimera Drone, Rainbow series of UAVs, WS-43 Miniature Attack Cruise Missile System, Wing Loong Ⅱ UAV and Hongdu L-15 Falcon Advanced trainer.

Among the few physical exhibits, the CM -501GA Multi-purpose Tactical Precision Strike Weapon System, as an information-based weapon system, can closely combine network communication technology with precision detection and strike technology, form a closed firepower ring, and greatly improve the effectiveness of integrated firepower combat. It is the leader of the same type of products in the international market.

"It boasts advanced technology. It is better than other products of its kind across the globe in terms of operational advancement, military achievements and other indicators," said Zhang Zhengwei, deputy general manager of Poly Technology Co., Ltd.

Over the years, China’s defense equipment has become popular on the international market as it is affordable and has high quality. Apart from the independently-developed equipment, the Chinese exhibitors also provide solutions to building up fighting capacity.

Many of the Chinese equipment exhibited have led the international military technology trend in terms of design foresight, battlefield adaptability and man-machine integration.
In addition, led by the country’s “One Belt, One Road” initiative, Chinese companies have been actively exploring innovative models for in-depth overseas technological cooperation, and have achieved positive phased results. They have established a CEST joint innovation laboratory in cooperation with the UAE.

"We can jointly develop new technologies and new products with various domestic and overseas institutions boasting advanced technology. At the same time, we can jointly cultivate talents, upholding the principles of extensive consultation, joint contribution and shared benefits and thus building a community of shared future in the fields of defense, security, and industrial technology,” said Liu Enshan, general manager of Marketing Department A of China North Industries Corporation (NORINCO).

This year's IDEX is scheduled to conclude on Feb 25.

The first IDEX was first held in 1993, and the event has since been held every two years. It has become the largest and most influential defense exhibition in West Asia and North Africa, as well as one of the world's top military, weapon and defense equipment exhibitions.
