Storyline


The Chinese mainland on Monday reported ten new confirmed COVID-19 cases, all from outside the mainland, with no new deaths or suspected cases, according to data released by the National Health Commission on Tuesday.

Of the imported cases, nine were reported in south China's Guangdong Province and one in north China's Shanxi Provicne.

On Monday, 37 COVID-19 patients on the Chinese mainland were discharged from hospital after recovery. A total of 250 close contacts were released from medical observation.

By the end of Monday, the number of imported cases had reached 4,949, with 4,775 recoveries and 174 confirmed cases. No deaths were reported among them.

The total cumulative number of confirmed COVID-19 cases on the mainland had reached 89,852 as of Monday. Among them, 374 remained in hospital, with one in critical condition.

The total number of recoveries was 84,842 and the cumulative number of virus-related deaths was 4,636, according to the commission.

The Chinese mainland reported nine new asymptomatic cases on Monday, all from outside the mainland; and 16 cases, including 14 from outside the mainland, were released from medical observation on the day.

The health commission received reports of 11,874 confirmed cases from the special administrative regions of Hong Kong and Macao and the Taiwan region on Monday.

Of these, 10,884 cases including 197 deaths and 10,404 recoveries were reported in Hong Kong, 48 cases including 47 recoveries in Macao, and 942 cases, including nine deaths and 893 recoveries in Taiwan.
