China's total social logistics value reached 300.1 trillion yuan (about 46.5 trillion U.S. dollars) in 2020 with a year-on-year increase of 3.5 percent, according to data released by the China Federation of Logistics and Purchasing (CFLP) on Tuesday.
The data shows that the scale of China's logistics industry has been recovering continuously at an accelerated speed.
Logistics is playing an increasingly important role in improving people's living.
Postal logistic service has covered more than 30,000 towns, promoting exchange of products between rural and urban areas.
Cai Jin, deputy director of CFLP, said logistics had played a vital role during the outbreak of COVID-19 in 2020.
"The year 2020 is uncommon for the development of logistics. First, development of the logistics industry has played a positive role in supporting the prevention and control of the epidemic. Second, the logistics industry first achieved positive growth during the process of resumption of production and business operation, which basically ensures the recovery and development of the entire national economy," said Cai.
Besides, in 2020 authorities rolled out various measures to help enterprises, improve the business environment and promote lowering logistic costs.
In 2020, the total cost of social logistics accounts for 14.7 percent of Gross Domestic Product (GDP), down by 1.3 percentage points year on year.
