The cooperation achievements between China and ASEAN in the field of scientific and technological innovation are demonstrated in the ongoing 19th China-ASEAN Expo which opened on Friday in Nanning City of south China's Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region.
The "China-ASEAN Technology Transfer and Innovation Cooperation Exhibition Area," set up in the expo for the first time, demonstrated 79 technology cooperation cases between China and ASEAN countries in recent years.
China Center for Resources Satellite Data and Application has supported the ASEAN countries on natural resources survey, ecological environment protection, emergency management, urban and rural construction by providing significant remote sensing (RS) data since 2012.
With the RS technology, objects as small as 30 centimeters on the ground can be clearly identified in space 500 kilometers away from Earth.
In addition, the "Zhuhai Cloud" intelligent unmanned mothership, which can carry some 50 auto-sailing investigate ships of various sizes, has helped a number of ASEAN countries complete many marine surveys including scientific research, submarine mapping, disaster prevention and mitigation, and ecological environment monitoring.
"The ship is capable to operate autonomous sail to quickly reach the observe site, improving the work efficiency in the process of ocean survey," said Tang Zili, engineer of the Southern Marine Science and Engineering Guangdong Laboratory (Zhuhai).
The China-ASEAN Expo, co-sponsored by China and ASEAN, is an international event held annually since 2004 with the objective of promoting the China-ASEAN Free Trade Area. It is one of the most important and strategic platforms for cooperation in the fields of trade, investment, tourism and partnership between ASEAN and China.
The 19th China-ASEAN Expo will last until Monday, and during the expo, 21 high-level forums and more than 80 economic and trade promotion activities have been held.
