China-Hualong One/Dome Installation

"The construction of the No.6 unit goes well at present. We plan to install the dome somewhere between March 21 and 23, depending on the weather."

China's second Hualong One nuclear power unit--No.6 unit--will be domed soon, according to general manager of China Nuclear Power Engineering Corporation Limited.
Same as the No.5 unit, the No.6 unit is also located in Fuqing Nuclear Power Plant in east China's Fujian Province. The capping of the second Hualong One marks the entry of the project into the equipment installation stage. Construction of the unit started in December in 2015, and it is expected to be put into use in 2021, one year later than the No.5.
"The construction of the No.6 unit goes well at present. We plan to install the dome somewhere between March 21 and 23, depending on the weather," said Liu Wei, general manager of China Nuclear Power Engineering Corporation Limited.
The Hualong One technology is of domestically developed third generation reactor design widely applied in China's nuclear power industry. It was developed by the China General Nuclear Power Corporation (CGN) and the China National Nuclear Corporation (CNNC). Its safe performance has been enhanced and can meet the highest international standard. Under the condition of serious emergencies like natural disaster, the nuclear power unit can prevent the nuclear fuel from leaking through spontaneous shutdown of the nuclear reactor.
China has begun building the first overseas Hualong One project in Pakistan.
Argentina and the United Kingdom have shown interest of cooperation with China on Hualong One nuclear power project.
