To maintain sound development of China-U.S. relations is certainly in the interests of the two countries and the two peoples. We hope that the U.S. side can take into account the vital interests of the two peoples, and the U.S. side should say and do more things that are conducive to the development of bilateral relations and to the promotion of the well-being of both sides, not the reverse."

Storyline

China on Thursday called on the United States to do more things to maintain sound development of bilateral relations.

Lu Kang, spokesman of China's Ministry of Foreign Affairs, made the point at a routine press briefing in Beijing when refuting recent accusations against China by the U.S. Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI), as its director Christopher Wray on Wednesday said China is the "broadest, most complicated and most long-term counter intelligence threat" facing the United States.

"After so many years of development of bilateral relations, interests of China and the United States have been highly integrated. To maintain sound development of China-U.S. relations is certainly in the interests of the two countries and the two peoples," Lu said.

He urged the United States to do more things that are good to the two countries and the two peoples.

"The U.S. side should say and do more things that are conducive to the development of bilateral relations and to the promotion of the well-being of both sides, not the reverse," the spokesman said.
