Storyline

Hotel bookings are surging in South Taihang scenic resort in central China's Henan Province ahead of five-day Labor Day holiday starting on Wednesday.

The Baligou scenic resort in Xinxiang City is home to hundreds of characteristic homestays that offer a unique and immersive experience for travelers hoping to have fun in picturesque settings and outdoor activities.

A high-end farm house, which opened last year, has seen a booking rate of over 90 percent three or four days before the holiday, with most visitors from surrounding provinces such as Shandong and Hebei.

"Almost all rooms [for the May Day holiday] were reserved, with only a few still available for May 3 and 4. There are an influx of phone calls inquiring about room reservation these days," said Su Xiang, an agritainment owner.

The scenic resort is expected to receive around 180,000 tourist arrivals during the holiday, and the daily peak to reach 65,000, a year-on-year increase of 40 percent.

The scenic area has stepped up measures to ensure tourist safety and ease of travel in response to the expected tourist surge.

The idle land adjacent to the scenic resort has been arranged to be temporarily used as a parking lot, and a large number of safety personnel have been deployed to tighten patrols around the scenic resort, according to Li Sisi, deputy general manager of the Baligou scenic site.

"We've temporarily added 5,000-plus parking spaces and dispatched over 500 security guards, so that tourists can enjoy their time at ease," Li said.
