Storyline

Preparations for the Eighth China International Import Expo (CIIE), which will be held in Shanghai from Nov. 5 to 10, are complete on Monday.

The setup of the exhibition booths has been completed, with all service facilities installed and tested, and all service guarantee ready.

The total exhibition area will exceed 430,000 square meters, attracting more than 600 new exhibitors compared with last year's event, bringing the total number to more than 4,100, which mark record highs in both exhibition area and the number of exhibitors.

Around 290 Fortune Global 500 companies and industry leaders will participate in the expo, which will see the debut of 461 new products, technologies and services.

Around 3,000 volunteers will provide on-site services at the event.

"We have set up 35 comprehensive service zones, to provide highly professional consulting services in aspects including customs policies, commercial laws, entry and exit policies, intellectual property protection, and talent policies. We aim to provide the overseas enterprises exhibiting for the first time at CIIE with a 'fast lane' to enter the Chinese market," said Zheng Yusheng, general manager of the operation management center at the National Exhibition and Convention Center (Shanghai), the main venue of CIIE.

This year's CIIE will introduce new themes such as the silver economy, ice and snow economy, sports economy, and automotive tourism, alongside new platforms for digital and health consumption.

The CIIE will expand its special zone for African products, with the number of African enterprises participating in the expo increasing by 80 percent year on year.

During the expo, the Hongqiao International Economic Forum, comprising 33 sub-forums and closed-door meetings, will be held. A series of more than 80 supporting activities, such as trade matchmaking and investment promotion sessions, will also take place.

The World Openness Report 2025 and the World Openness Index will be released at the Hongqiao International Economic Forum.
