Serbian Prime Minister Djuro Macut paid a visit to Shanghai Jiao Tong University (SJTU) on Tuesday, one day before attending the eighth China International Import Expo (CIIE) in Shanghai.
More than 100 students from diverse academic backgrounds came to the event at the university's Xuhui Campus to hear the visiting leader.
During his speech, Macut called for deeper bilateral cooperation between China and Serbia and said he looked forward to attending the CIIE in person to experience China's vibrant foreign trade scene.
"We have great expectations in the different fields of economic relations and trading. We are here to discover new possibilities, IT ideas, or maybe artificial intelligence ideas, etc. I will be very happy tomorrow to go to the fair and to see how does it look like. They told me it's fantastic," said Macut.
Macut spoke about his previous visits to China, and encouraged Chinese students to learn more about Serbian culture and help foster people-to-people exchanges between the two countries.
Students responded positively to the call for cultural exchange.
