AI literacy courses enter China's school curriculums

China is rolling out AI literacy programs in cities across the country this autumn to integrate tech into school curriculums.
At a middle school in east China’s Jiangsu Province, students are writing computer programs to train their robots to recognize fruit. But it wasn’t easy.

"We debugged the program many times and failed.But when the robot finally recognized the orange, we were all very happy. I realized image recognition is not magic. It is built on massive training data."

Other schools are embedding AI into other subjects.
At Beijing National Day School, AI works as an on-demand assistant. These students are using it to research ancient stone arch bridges in Chinese class and to analyze city transformations in geography class.

China’s Ministry of Education says that by the year 2030, they aim to build a vertically integrated, full-stage AI education system.
