The 18th Tour of Qinghai Lake international road cycling race kicked off on Sunday with a team time trial, the first time the item was included in the event.

Starting from Haidong City in northwest China’s Qinghai Province, the race covers 13 stages, with a total distance of 1,631 kilometers. The 154 athletes in 22 teams from around the world will ride across Qinghai and Gansu provinces and Ningxia Hui Autonomous Region.

This year's Tour of Qinghai Lake cycling race covers all types of road races specified by the International Cycling Union (UCI), including flat road, hills, mountains and time trials, making the event more exciting and interesting.

The first stage of team time trial on Sunday covered a distance of 40 kilometers, and the championship went to a team from Medellin, Colombia.

The whole event will last 14 days.
