All Chinese nationals working and living in Namibia have received their first dose of a China-produced COVID-19 vaccine as of Wednesday, according to the Chinese Embassy in Namibia.

A total of 1,800 Chinese nationals have been inoculated with a China-produced COVID-19 vaccine over the past 14 days, marking the conclusion of the first phase of the "spring sprout" vaccination program.

The "spring sprout" vaccination program, which helps overseas Chinese secure a vaccination free of change, was announced by Chinese State Councilor and Foreign Minister Wang Yi at a press conference in Beijing on March 7.

According to China's ambassador to Namibia Zhang Yiming, Chinese nationals in Namibia can receive their first dose of the vaccine at four local hospitals.

"The embassy has overcome a series of difficulties caused by local legal procedures in terms of the import of the vaccine, cross-border transportation, and coordination with local medical institutions.
