Storyline

The gorgeous Tianchi Lake in northwest China's Xinjiang Uygur Autonomous Region has received a record 540,000 holidaymakers in the first three days of the Labor Day holiday that started on Saturday.

The Tianchi Lake, or the Heavenly Pond Lake, boasts one of the most mesmerizing lake scenes in the country, with blue-green water glistening under the sun and fresh air flowing through the surrounding snow-capped mountains.

As flocks of tourists came to the place, local officials decided to add a special cultural touch to the scene by putting on a festive Xinjiang-style dancing show on the sunlit lake shore.

The show has since entertained many nature and culture enthusiasts. This includes Lu Kaixuan, who was one of the many that seized the holiday window for some sightseeing.

"I took my niece here to look at the magnificent view of the Tianchi Lake. As an official coming to aid Xinjiang, I feel that I would always have feelings for the place after my stay here. Xinjiang is beautiful, it is my beloved in my lifetime," said Lu, who is originally from east China's Fujian Province.

With a vision to keep the water flowing clean and clear, all private cars have been banned from entering the park, while tourism yachts, vehicles and heat-supply are all electric-driven.

To stamp any potential coronavirus transmission risks, 100 volunteers were arranged on site to remind the tourists of face mask wearing while providing other services.
