Details, including the typeface of slogans on two sides of the station's front-face, are miniature of the then Hefei Railway Station. It also includes the escalators at both sides of the waiting room and a screen. In reality, the Hefei Railway Station has a screen here, showing advertisements and train information."

"As far as I know, China's high-speed trains started service in 2008. It's less than 15 years till now. Over the past 15 years, China's railway system has developed from an average speed of 60-70 kilometers per hour to an average speed of 300 kilometers per hour, which is incredible and is really fast development. When I talked about it with my foreign colleagues, they said they could not imagine it, as it is out their imagination, and I had to make a lot of effort explaining that such a thing is roaring on the land of China."

Storyline

A young Chinese man living in Canada made a true-to-scale replica rail system of his hometown Hefei, capital city of east China's Anhui Province, wowing online viewers.

Its builder, Wang Yue, is a train lover.

Working and living in Canada as a pilot, Wang said he misses his hometown very much, so he started to build the true-to-scale replica two years ago.

In the two years, Wang spent all his spare time designing railway tracks, purchasing train models, building railway stations and platforms, and enabling the replica to be controlled by digital technology.

Wang's railway system has three types of railways. The single-track railway is designed for diesel locomotive, the railway with gravels and overhead line system is used by electrified trains, and there are tracks for high-speed trains.

The speed of the three types of trains is also set proportionately to their actual speed.

To develop a control program, Wang studied a lot of railway-related knowledge.

"This is a turnout system that controls all railway tracks of the Hefei Railway Station [replica] and has been designed by me. In the real railway system, the jargon of it is called the interlocking system. To enable trains to operate in the sand table, we've added the system to the model," said Wang.

Except that train models and some materials for the sand table were purchased, most building models and decorations were drawn by Wang and were printed out with a 3D-printer.

"Based on photos that I collected and the memory of my childhood, I tried my best to replicate the railway station. Details, including the typeface of slogans on two sides of the station's front-face, are miniature of the then Hefei Railway Station. It also includes the escalators at both sides of the waiting room and a screen. In reality, the Hefei Railway Station has a screen here, showing advertisements and train information," said Wang.

Wang said that he loves China's railway system and is proud of it, which spurs him to build the replica.

Wang recorded the process of building the railway system replica and released the videos online. His videos have won many likes.
