The cumulative number of COVID-19 cases in the world had nearly reached 177.11 million, with the death toll exceeding 3.84 million, as of June 18, according to the World Health Organization (WHO).

Globally, as of 17:31 Central European Summer Time (CEST) on June 18, there had been 177,108,695 confirmed cases of COVID-19, including 3,840,223 deaths, the WHO's COVID-19 dashboard showed.

As of June 16, a total of 2,378,482,776 vaccine doses had been administered around the world.

The total number of confirmed COVID-19 cases in the United States surpassed 33.52 million as of 17:22 Eastern Standard Time (EST) on June 19.

The country's case count rose to 33,522,551, with the death toll reaching 601,714, according to the Center for Systems Science and Engineering (CSSE) at Johns Hopkins University.

The United States still leads the world in the number of both confirmed COVID-19 cases and deaths.

Brazil surpassed half a million COVID-19 deaths after registering 2,301 more deaths from the fatal disease in the past 24 hours, the health ministry said Saturday.

With the national death toll reaching 500,800, Brazil has become the second country in the world to record more than half a million pandemic deaths, after the United States.

According to the ministry, a total of 82,288 new infections were detected during the past 24 hours, raising the total caseload to 17,883,750, the world's third largest following the United States and India.

Russia has reported another 17,906 COVID-19 cases in the past 24-hour period, according to the official data released Saturday.

The total number of coronavirus cases in the country now stands at 5,299,215.

The national COVID-19 death toll rose by 466 to 128,911 in the past day, while the number of the country's recoveries grew by 10,684 to 4,861,343.

Meanwhile, Moscow, Russia's worst-hit region, reported 9,120 new cases, taking its total to 1,278,265.

According to official data, 33,923,089 doses of COVID-19 vaccines had been administered in Russia as of Saturday.

Britain reported more than 10,000 coronavirus cases for a third consecutive day on Saturday as there has been a 79-percent rise in the highly contagious Delta variant in the country in the past week.

In the latest 24-hour period, Britain has reported another 10,321 coronavirus cases, bringing the total number of coronavirus cases in the country to 4,620,968, according to official figures released Saturday.

The country also recorded another 14 coronavirus-related death. The total number of coronavirus-related deaths in Britain now stands at 127,970. These figures only include the deaths of people who died within 28 days of their first positive test.

Some 81 percent of the country's adult population have been given the first jab of the coronavirus vaccine while 59 percent have been fully vaccinated with a second dose, according to the latest official figures.

Italy on Saturday recorded 1,197 new coronavirus infections with 28 deaths, bringing the national tally to 4,252,095 and the death toll to 127,253.

France registered 2,624 new COVID-19 cases in the past day, bringing the total caseload to 5,755,496 infections, according to official figures on Saturday.

The country saw 22 new deaths, pushing the total death toll to 110,753 fatalities.

There are still 10,531 COVID-19 patients in hospital for treatment, with 1,703 in severe condition.

The data also suggests that the COVID-19 test positivity rate nationwide has dropped to 1.1 percent.

Japan registered 1,520 new daily infections and 28 deaths as of 18:30 on June 19 local time, bringing the county's cumulative totals to 783,950 cases with 14,406 deaths, according to the data cited by the Japan Broadcasting Corporation "Nippon Hoso Kyokai (NHK)."
