Heavy rain in Anyang City in central China's Henan Province has temporarily stopped on Thursday while it had wreaked havoc in the city, disrupting traffic, people's life and work order.
As of 09:00, rainfall in the city has topped 600 millimeters in the past ten hours.
As the heavy rain halted, floodwater began to recede gradually from the city.
Local authorities have issued a notice to require all residents stay and work at home.
All the public transit buses have suspended operation in the city.
Only rescuers are allowed to go outdoors.
The city had evacuated more than 70,000 residents due to the rain-triggered flood.
Staff members of insurance companies have set up some makeshift work stations in the city to help their clients claim for compensation.
From 20:00 Monday to 06:00 Wednesday, various places in the city had received heavy rains, with the highest precipitation of 638.7 millimeters in Laohegou Village.
The city is expected to receive more rains on Thursday, according to local weather service.
