China's National Space Administration (CNSA) released the route driven by Zhurong Mars rover on Friday one year after the successful launch of Tianwen-1, China's first Mars probe.
Zhurong has advanced a total of 585 meters so far. The map shows that since starting exploration, the Mars rover has moved southward from its landing position.
During the process, onboard cameras captured images of landforms and topography along the route. The equipment on Zhurong has also helped analyses and research on rocks and dunes deemed valuable.
The CNSA also released a batch of images captured by Zhurong, showing a sand dune caused by aeolian processes.
The rover has operated on the red planet for 68 Martian days, which is 69 days on Earth.
Tianwen-1, consisting of an orbiter, a lander and a rover, was launched from the Wenchang Spacecraft Launch Site on the coast of southern China's island province of Hainan on July 23, 2020.
The orbiter is operating at about 378 million kilometers away from Earth. Both the probe and the orbiter are functioning well, said the CNSA.
