Chinese President Xi Jinping on Friday stressed enhancing social governance in Tibet Autonomous Region to ensure national security, social stability and the people's well-being.
Xi, also general secretary of the Communist Party of China (CPC) Central Committee and chairman of the Central Military Commission, listened to work reports of the CPC Tibet Autonomous Region Committee and the local government during an inspection tour to Tibet from Wednesday to Friday.
Xi underscored strengthening communication among different ethnic groups so as to improve their recognition of the great motherland, the Chinese nation, the CPC and the socialism with Chinese characteristics.
Xi said advancing high-quality development of Tibet should have the meaning of ethnic unity and progress and help the people feel more satisfied, happier, and more secure.
Xi stressed ecological conservation in Tibet through improvement of environmental governance and protection of biodiversity in the Qinghai-Tibet Plateau.
Ahead of the meeting, Xi met with representatives of various circles in Tibet.
Xi's visit came as Tibet celebrates its 70th anniversary of peaceful liberation.
