Storyline


The second Belt and Road Energy Ministerial Conference was held concurrently online and offline in Qingdao, east China's Shandong Province on Monday with attendance of energy ministers, ambassadors and high-level representatives of energy authorities from member states aiming to deepen cooperation on green energy.

Under the theme of "Join Hands towards a Greener and More Inclusive Energy Future", the conference was held by China's National Energy Administration(NEA) in collaboration with the Shandong Provincial People's Government.

Energy ministers and high-level representatives of energy authorities from 28 countries and economies, ambassadors of 18 countries to China and representatives of nine international organizations, attended the opening ceremony and conducted in-depth consultation and discussion on the Belt and Road green energy cooperation, which has achieved fruitful results.

The delegates reached consensus that the Belt and Road Energy Cooperative Partnership has gradually grown into a new platform for high-quality cooperation in the energy field under the Belt and Road Initiative, and is constantly injecting vitality into the member states' clean and low-carbon energy development, creating opportunities for them to carry out more diversified, flexible green energy cooperation.

The participants also reached agreement to further enhance understanding, build consensus and promote more pragmatic cooperation on energy and join hand to cope with the climate crisis and realize sustainable development.

The conference also released multiple outcomes including the adoption of the Terms of Reference of the Belt and Road Energy Partnership; the launch of the Qingdao Initiative for Belt and Road Green Energy Cooperation and Best Practice Case of the Belt and Road Energy Partnership.
