UN Secretary-General Antonio Guterres and envoys of foreign diplomatic missions and representatives of international organizations in China will be invited to attend the meeting to be held next Monday to mark the 50th anniversary of the restoration of its lawful seat in the United Nations (UN), according to Foreign Ministry Spokesman Wang Wenbing.

In particular, Chinese President Xi Jinping will deliver a speech at the meeting, Wang announced Friday at a press conference in Beijing.

"This year marks the 50th anniversary of the restoration of China's lawful seat in the UN. Over the past 50 years, China has always upheld high the banner of multilateralism, firmly safeguarded the international system with the UN at its core, maintained an international order based on international law and the core role of the UN in international affairs. Over the past 50 years, China has been deeply involved in the UN causes, safeguarded world peace, promoted common development and kept expanding cooperation with the UN," Wang said.
