The Chinese mainland on Friday reported 38 new locally transmitted COVID-19 cases, the National Health Commission said in its daily report on Saturday.
Of the new local cases, 17 were reported in Gansu, 11 in Inner Mongolia, six in Beijing, three in Ningxia and one in Yunnan, the commission said.
Among the new local cases, one in Gansu was re-confirmed to be active case from asymptomatic case, according to the commission.
The commission also reported 12 new imported cases, of which three were reported in Shanghai, two each in Fujian and Guangxi, and one each in Tianjin, Liaoning, Shandong, Guangdong and Yunnan.
Of the new imported cases, one each in Tianjin Municipality and Guangdong Province was re-confirmed to be an active case from an asymptomatic case, said the commission in its daily report.
No new deaths related to the COVID-19 epidemic, with one suspected case was reported in Inner Mongolia on Friday.
A total of 19 cases were discharged from hospital and 755 close contacts were released from medical observation.
The number of severe cases increased by four compared to that of the previous day.
A total of 9,486 imported cases had been reported on the mainland by the end of Friday. Of them, 9,072 had been discharged from hospital following recovery, and 414 remained hospitalized, with one being in severe condition.
No deaths had been reported among the imported cases, and there is one remaining suspected COVID-19 case.
As of Friday, the mainland had reported a total of 96,715 confirmed COVID-19 cases. Of them, 91,530 had been discharged from hospital following recovery, and 4,636 had died as a result of the virus.
Currently, 549 confirmed cases remain in hospitals for treatment, with seven being in severe conditions.
There are two suspected COVID-19 case remaining on the mainland, and 26,626 of the 1,224,969 tracked close contacts were still under medical observation.
On Friday, 17 new asymptomatic cases, with 11 reported from overseas, were reported.
Of the six new asymptomatic cases reported on the mainland on Friday, two each were reported in Guizhou, Yunnan and Ningxia.
Three asymptomatic cases, with two reported from overseas, were re-confirmed to be active cases and 13 asymptomatic cases, including 12 from overseas, were released from medical observation on Friday.
The commission also said 385 asymptomatic cases, including 354 imported ones, were still under medical observation.
By the end of Friday, 12,313 confirmed cases including 213 deaths had been reported in the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region (SAR), together with 77 confirmed cases in the Macao SAR and 16,357 cases including 846 deaths in Taiwan.
A total of 12,012 COVID-19 patients in Hong Kong, 66 in Macao, and 13,742 in Taiwan had been discharged from hospitals after recovery.
