The Chinese authorities have underscored the great significance of issuing the China-Africa cooperation white paper, the first document on the country's cooperation with a specific region published after the 18th National Congress of the Communist Party of China (CPC) in 2012.
The white paper, titled "China and Africa in the New Era: A Partnership of Equals," detailing China's cooperation with Africa in the new era was issued by the country's State Council Information Office on Friday.
Speaking at a press conference in Beijing, Wu Jianghao, assistant minister of Foreign Affairs, said that China-Africa cooperation was chosen as the subject of the white paper because bilateral relations bears a special significance.
He briefed news media on the great significance of issuing the white paper in three aspects.
Firstly, Wu said, China and Africa are always each other's sincere friends and reliable partners throughout history, from supporting each other's struggles for national independence and liberty, to jointly seeking development and rejuvenation.
"Africa and China both belong to the developing world. No matter how the international situation may change, China and Africa's commitment to win-win cooperation and common development will never change. China and Africa will always be each other's most reliable and most sincere partner," he said.
Secondly, China-Africa cooperation has set a fine example for South-South cooperation and international cooperation with Africa, Wu said.
"China-Africa cooperation is a banner of South-South cooperation and international cooperation with Africa.
