China continued to see a downward trend of house prices in 70 major cities on monthly basis, with shrinking year-on-year increase in December, official data showed on Saturday.
New home prices in four first-tier cities – Beijing, Shanghai, Shenzhen and Guagnzhou – dropped 0.1 percent month to month in December, compared with a flat registered in November, according to data from the National Bureau of Statistics.
The resold home market in first-tier cities saw prices increase 0.1 percent month on month in December, while November saw a 0.2 percent decrease.
The country's 31 second-tier cities saw a month-on-month decrease of 0.3 percent in both new home prices and resold home prices, with decline rate 0.1 percentage points narrower than the previous month; while 35 third-tier cities witnessed a month-on-month decline of 0.3 percent in new home prices, the same level as that of November. The resold house prices in third-tier cities dropped 0.5 percent, 0.1 percentage points of decrease higher than the previous month.
On a year-on-year basis, new home prices in first-tier cities rose 4.4 percent in December, while those in second-tier cities went up 2.8 percent.
The resold home prices in first-tier cities grew 5.3 percent from a year earlier, shrinking by 0.5 percentage points from the growth seen in November, while the prices in second-tier cities went up 1.5 percent, also a 0.5 percentage points lower from November.
In third-tier cities, new home prices went up 0.9 percent, 0.5 percentage points lower than the increase in November. Resold house prices grew by 0.5 percent, remained unchanged to November.
