The world's largest electric cruise ship, the Yangtze River Three Gorges 1, on Tuesday made its maiden voyage in Yichang, central China's Hubei Province.
The ship boasts the world's largest power battery capacity of 7,500 kilowatt-hours, the equivalent of the total battery capacity of more than 100 electric cars.
Powered by clean hydropower energy, it can travel 100 kilometers on one single charge, helping save 530 tonnes of fuel and reduce emissions noxious gas by 1,660 tonnes annually, thus playing a significant role in meeting the country's target of peaking its carbon emissions by 2030 and achieving carbon neutrality by 2060.
The ship, which is 100 meters long and 16.2 meters wide, can accommodate 1,300 passengers and will take them on sightseeing trips along the Yangtze River near Yichang.
