Egrets with slender figures gracefully wander about the lake, adding beauty and vitality to the lake. Whiskered terns mate and incubate in the warmth of May. A great crested grebe enjoys itself in the refreshing rain.
It is worth noting that oriental white storks also appear at the Poyang Lake.
The oriental white stork is reputed as a "national treasure" in the kingdom of birds in China. There are only around 7,400 oriental white storks living in the wild in the country. Every winter, they would visit the middle and lower reaches of the Yangtze River to spend the winter.
Home to 382 species of birds, the Poyang Lake is the largest freshwater lake in China and an important wintering place for waterfowl in Asia.
