China created a total of 6.54 million new urban jobs in the first half of 2022, with unemployment rate declining steadily in the second quarter, said Fu Linghui, spokesman of the National Bureau of Statistics (NBS) on Friday.
In the first six months of this year, 6.54 million new urban jobs were created in China, and the nationwide surveyed urban unemployment rate averaged 5.7 percent. The surveyed urban unemployment rate was recorded at 5.8 percent in the second quarter, with 6.1 percent, 5.9 percent and 5.5 percent in April, May and June, respectively, said Fu.
Specifically, in June, the surveyed unemployment rate of population with local household registration was 5.3 percent and that of population with non-local household registration and that of rural migrant workers stood at 5.8 percent and 5.3 percent, respectively.
In terms of age groups, the unemployment rate among those aged between 16 and 24 stood at 19.3 percent, and that of those aged between 25 and 29 stood at 4.5 percent. The urban surveyed unemployment rate in 31 major cities was 5.8 percent in June, down 1.1 percent from the previous month.
