The Eastern Theater Command of the Chinese People's Liberation Army (PLA) focused on land attack, sea assault in Saturday's drills around the Taiwan Island.

With the support of the joint operation system, the Navy corps of the Eastern Theater Command dispatched naval vessels, aircraft, shore-based missile and other mission forces to carry out joint land strike and sea assault training.

As the alarm sounded, officers and soldiers aboard a destroyer carrying out operations in waters north of Taiwan immediately went into combat mode.

After receiving the target task message from the early warning aircraft and the order to carry out long-range fire strikes, a comprehensive attack and defense drill with real combat scenario was launched. With the target locked, the ship commander issued an attack order.

East of the Taiwan Island, a frigate sailed toward the island at high speed. The ship commander guided the ship to quickly occupy favorable positions, and carry out simulated sea strike, comprehensive attack and defense, joint anti-submarine training and other subjects.

Meanwhile, several fighter jets taking off from an airport in eastern Zhejiang Province flew to the target airspace to launch a coordinated offensive with the naval force.

Along the east coast of Guangdong Province, officers and soldiers of a land-based missile launch regiment quickly moved to the designated area after receiving the order.

They went through target parameters and made dynamic adjustments according to the real-time information, so as to continuously pursue and simulate the assault on maritime targets.

Under unified command, the naval force and air force of the PLA Eastern Theater Command also carried out joint reconnaissance and early warning, joint fire assault and other training subjects, testing and further improving the PLA's ability to conduct coordinated exercises supported by the joint operation system.
