"China's CPI has remained generally stable by the middle of this year because of a large comparison base, sufficient market supply and other factors. This helps improve the quality of life for people, provides a solid support for stabilizing economic growth and creates more policy space for macro-control."

China's consumer price index (CPI), a main gauge of inflation, remained generally stable in June thanks to sufficient market supply and other factors.
The CPI came in flat in the month compared with the same period last year, and wend down 0.2 percent from the previous month, according to data released by the National Bureau of Statistics (NBS) on Monday.
In June, food prices went up 2.3 percent, 1.3 percentage points faster than that in May.
The prices of fresh vegetables, potatoes, fruits and poultry rose between 4.3 percent and 10.8 percent year on year, while pork prices fell 7.2 percent on a yearly basis, a decline 4.0 percentage points higher month on month.
Non-food prices edged down 0.6 percent in June compared with those in May.
Among non-food prices, the prices of service products rose 0.7 percent, narrowing by 0.2 percentage points from the increase in May. The prices of industrial consumer goods dropped 2.7 percent in June, expanding by 1.0 percentage points compared with the decrease in May. Meanwhile, energy prices dipped 9.3 percent in June.
"China's CPI has remained generally stable by the middle of this year because of a large comparison base, sufficient market supply and other factors. This helps improve the quality of life for people, provides a solid support for stabilizing economic growth and creates more policy space for macro-control," said Yan Min, director of the macroeconomic office of the economic forecasting division of the State Information Center, a think tank affiliated to the National Development and Reform Commission.
China's producer price index (PPI), which measures costs for goods at the factory gate, went down 5.4 percent year on year and 0.8 percent month on month in June.
The NBS attributed the declines to falling prices in commodities, including oil and coal, and a high comparison base during the same period last year.
