"These sanctions are a clear example of the United States’ violation of freedom of speech and freedom of information, and reflects the U.S. government's policies that are full of fraud, hypocrisy and double standards. On the one hand, they talk a lot about so-called 'human rights', and so-called 'freedom of speech' and 'freedom of information'. On the other hand, they are sanctioning Iranian media that aims at conveying information."

The continuous sanctions imposed by the United States on Iran have seriously violated human rights, demonstrating the hypocrisy and double standards of the U.S. government, said Iranian Foreign Ministry spokesman Nasser Kanaani at a press conference in Tehran on Monday.
Kanaani said the U.S. unilateral and illegal sanctions cover many areas, and the U.S.-led Western world have committed countless crimes against the Iranian people over the past few decades.
The U.S. advocates for human rights and freedoms, but at the same time, it blatantly suppresses Iran's freedom to convey information, he said.
On the other hand, they are sanctioning Iranian media that aims at conveying information," said Kanaani.
For the latest progress on the Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action (JCPOA), or the Iran nuclear deal, Kanaani said Iran will adhere to diplomacy and negotiations, and continue consultations with relevant parties to put the nuclear deal back on track.
Kanaani also said Iran will continue to cooperate with the International Atomic Energy Agency in a constructive manner on the basis of the NPT Safeguards Agreement, but the agency should avoid political interference from Western countries and carry out relevant works with impartiality and neutrality.
The Treaty on the Non-Proliferation of Nuclear Weapons (NPT) is a landmark international treaty which strives to prevent the spread of nuclear weapons and weapons technology, to promote cooperation in the peaceful uses of nuclear energy and to further the goal of achieving nuclear disarmament and general and complete disarmament.
Iran signed the JCPOA with world powers in July 2015, agreeing to put some curbs on its nuclear program in return for the removal of the sanctions on the country. However, the U.S. pulled out of the deal in May 2018, and re-imposed its unilateral sanctions on Tehran, prompting the latter to reduce some of its nuclear commitments under the deal.
The talks on the JCPOA's revival began in April 2021 in Vienna, Austria. No breakthrough has been achieved after the latest round of talks in August 2022.
