Dutch cyclist and vlogger Tomas embarked on an exploration of some must-eat dishes of Hangzhou -- the leading host city of the upcoming 19th Asian Games.

Hangzhou is a culinary paradise known for delicious food made of freshwater, poultry and seasonal vegetables.

Tomas toured the Qing He Fang close to the renowned West Lake, which is a replica of a Qing Dynasty (1644-1911) street in the city. Crossing some small romantic alleys full of coffee shops and tea houses, he picked one of the best local food restaurants to taste an authentic Hangzhou dinner.

"What is so unique about Hangzhou food? It's famous for its emphasis on the original ingredient itself. Let's try the most famous dish in Hangzhou, sweet and sour West Lake fish. Tender and fragrant. Delicious," Tomas said in his vlog.

Besides the symbolic fish, Tomas also tasted the well known Dongpo pork. Named after the Song Dynasty (960-1279) poet and gastronome Su Dongpo, the dish is made out of fat and lean pork equally, with a rich wine flavor and an oily but not greasy mouthfeel.

In addition to the fish and pork dishes, the famous tourism city of Hangzhou also boasts a vast array of appetizing dishes such as shrimp cooked in Longjing tea, duck stewed with dried bamboo shoots and ham, and various tofu food. The city has prepared dazzling delectable and classic dishes of local cuisine to treat all people participating in the 19th Asian Games.

The Games, which will open in Hangzhou on Saturday evening, will feature the largest number of competition events in the history of the continental sports event, with more than 12,000 athletes from all the 45 members of the Olympic Council of Asia. Across 40 sports and 61 disciplines, athletes will compete for a total of 481 gold medals in 15 days of competition.

Besides the Games' leading host city of Hangzhou, there are also five other co-host cities in the province, namely, Ningbo, Wenzhou, Jinhua, Shaoxing and Huzhou.
