China resolutely opposes the move of the U.S. Commerce Department to place some Chinese companies on its export control "entity list," a spokesperson of the Ministry of Commerce said on Saturday.
The spokesperson made the remarks in response to a media query on the U.S. Department of Commerce on Friday putting 42 Chinese firms on its export control "entity list" under the so-called Russia-related excuses.
The spokesperson said the United States has overstretched the concept of national security, abused export control measures, and arbitrarily imposed unilateral sanctions and "long-arm jurisdiction" on Chinese companies, which are all typical moves of economic coercion and unilateral bullying.
The U.S. side should immediately correct its wrong-doing and stop its unreasonable suppression of Chinese companies, the spokesperson said, emphasizing that China will take all necessary measures to firmly safeguard the legitimate rights and interests of Chinese companies.
Last month, the U.S. Commerce Department added 11 Chinese companies to the export control list for so-called involvement in military activities or relations with Iran or Russia.
