"China believes that the above-mentioned actions by the European side have disrupted the international trade order, increased downstream production costs, and impacted consumer interests. These actions are not conducive to the stability of the global industrial and supply chains, to the long-term development of domestic industries and the healthy operation of the market. China consistently advocates for the reasonable and prudent use of trade remedies and firmly opposes the unilateralism and protectionism associated with the abuse of such measures. We will closely monitor the follow-up actions of the European side."

China's Ministry of Commerce (MOC) on Thursday expressed strong opposition to a decision by the European Commission to launch an anti-subsidy probe into Chinese iron and steel enterprises.
China firmly opposes the unilateralism and protectionism of abusing trade remedies and will pay close attention to the EU's follow-up actions, said ministry spokesman He Yadong at a press conference in Beijing.
The MOC pointed out that the EU has long implemented various trade restrictions on imported steel products, including the globally criticized and long-standing global safeguard measures for steel, as well as more than 60 anti-dumping and countervailing measures against steel products from multiple countries and regions. The EU steel market has become one of the markets with multiple trade barriers and high product prices globally.
