Storyline

Chinese logistics companies had seen their costs falling and efficiency improving, with the whole sector showing signs of improvement in the first 10 months of this year, industry data showed Monday.

From January to October, the cost per 100 yuan of logistics revenue of logistics companies fell by 0.2 yuan year on year, and by 0.5 yuan from that of the period between January and September, according to the data released by the China Federation of Logistics and Purchasing (CFLP) on Monday.

At the same time, driven by the rebound in service prices, micro corporate profits achieved marginal improvement, and revenue profit margins rebounded by 0.2 percentage points month-on-month, showing signs of improvement in industry efficiency.

In October, China's logistics industry prosperity index remained above 50 percent. Bulk commodity logistics, e-commerce express delivery, cold chain and other fields still remain in the expansion range, and the prosperity index of railway transportation, air logistics and postal express delivery has increased steadily, said the CFLP.

"The operating conditions of the entire logistics sector have improved since October, and the supply and demand of social logistics for the market have further tended to achieve an equilibrium. The business activity expectation index continued to remain in a high-prosperity range of 57 percent (and above), the confidence in corporate development was also further enhanced," said Liu Yuhang, director of China Logistics Information Center.
