Storyline

The state broadcaster China Media Group (CMG) held a ceremony in Beijing on Friday to launch the country's first animated series generated by text-to-video artificial intelligence (AI) model.

President of CMG Shen Haixiong, and Dai Qionghai, director of the School of Information Science and Technology at Qinghua University, were present at the launch ceremony of the series and the unveiling ceremony of an AI studio.

The series, created by AI technology, is a collection of ancient stories based on more than 200 classic Chinese poems that have entered Chinese textbooks for primary, middle and high education, and aims to present China's traditional culture and aesthetics.

"Storytelling combined with animation is a more novel, vivid and lively way to disseminate classic poems, as it is more in line with what children desire. It is also a way to better disseminate the traditional Chinese culture," said Huang Qiang, publisher of the People's Education Press.

The CMG also unveiled the AI studio at the ceremony to boost the AI-generated content (AIGC) core technology research and innovative application, so as to create a large platform for innovative audio-visual programs.

"Facing the county's major needs, CMG has applied novel AI technology to develop new quality productive forces. We started the project six months ago and CMG produced the animated series presented to you today utilizing its massive data and adopting the text-to-video AI technology," said Wang Yanfeng, director assistant of Shanghai Artificial Intelligence Laboratory.

The series is scheduled to be aired on Monday simultaneously on CCTV-1, yangshipin.cn and www.cctv.com.
