Chinese Premier Li Qiang met with visiting President-elect of the Republic of Indonesia and Great Indonesia Movement Party General Chairman Prabowo Subianto in Beijing on Tuesday, with the two sides pledging to deepen cooperation.
Noting that China-Indonesia relations have seen rapid growth over the past years, Li said that Prabowo's decision to visit China first after being elected once again demonstrates the profound friendship between the two countries.
President Xi Jinping and Prabowo had in-depth communication on issues concerning the long-term development of China-Indonesian relations, and reached important consensus, according to Li.
China is willing to work together with Indonesia to maintain high-level strategic mutual trust, enhance mutually beneficial cooperation such as high-quality Belt and Road cooperation, strengthen communication and coordination in the multilateral arena, and push for deeper and more concrete progress in building a China-Indonesia community with a shared future, so as to make positive contributions to the prosperity and stability of the region and the world at large, he said.
Noting that he came to China for his first official visit after being elected, Prabowo said he is committed to consolidating the friendship and cooperation between the two countries, elevating and upgrading bilateral ties.
The new Indonesian government is ready to learn from China's experience, and work together with China to deepen cooperation to build closer bilateral ties, he said.
At the invitation of President Xi, Prabowo is paying a visit to China from Sunday to Tuesday.
