The Palestinian death toll from the ongoing Israeli attacks on the Gaza Strip has exceeded 32,900, the Gaza-based Palestinian Health Ministry said on Tuesday.
During the past 24 hours, the Israeli army killed 71 Palestinians and wounded 102 others, the ministry said in a press statement.
This brings the total number of deaths to 32,916, with 75,494 injuries, since the Israel-Hamas conflict broke out on Oct 7, 2023, according to the ministry.
Israel on Tuesday assumed responsibility for the killing of seven workers of an international food charity during an overnight airstrike in the Gaza Strip.
A convoy from World Central Kitchen (WCK), a Washington-headquartered non-profit organization that had become a vital source of food assistance to war-torn Gaza, was attacked Monday in what Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu acknowledged was an "unintentional strike" on "innocent people in the Gaza Strip."
According to a statement from WCK, the seven killed were staff members from Palestine, Australia, Poland, Britain, and one of them is a dual citizen of Canada and the United States.
Australian Prime Minister Anthony Albanese said the attack was completely unacceptable.
Polish Foreign Minister Radoslaw Sikorski said that he had asked the Israeli ambassador in Warsaw for explanations.
Adrienne Watson, a spokesperson for the White House National Security Council, said that she has urged the Israeli side to launch investigations into the attack on aid workers.
Canadian Foreign Minister Melanie Joly said she was "horrified" to hear the attack and called for a full investigation.
