More than one million new products are expected to be displayed at the 135th Canton Fair, or the China Import and Export Fair.

The grand expo is currently underway in southern China's Guangzhou. Known as China's "barometer" for foreign trade, the biannual fair is considered the country's oldest and most comprehensive trade fair.

Opened on Monday, the current edition of the fair incorporates three separate five-day phases which will run through to May 5 under the theme of "advanced manufacturing", "quality home life" and "better life". It has attracted over 29,000 exhibitors from across the globe.

It is a place where visitors get a glimpse of the latest developments and innovations from various industries. Among the highlights are the groundbreaking XR glasses, which enable remote gaming experiences.

"Our XR glasses supports remote gaming. For example, with the neck ring and the eye device, I can play games on my PS5 at my home in Beijing although I am physically at the Canton Fair as long as there is stable 5G network or wif," said Yang Jingjie, marketing manager of Viture.

While the Canton Fair embraces emerging industries, it also celebrates advancements in traditional sectors. A prime example is the window-cleaning robot, which makes the window-cleaning for high-rises become easy.

"Our new window-cleaning robot utilizes a separated walking disc and cleaning disc technology. The most immediate benefit to users is that it cleans very quickly and effectively. On the first day of the Canton Fair, we received over 100 business cards from potential clients," said Niu Liqun, chairman of Shanxi Jia Shi Da Robot Technology.

Lithium batteries, a cornerstone of China's export prowess, continue to captivate visitors at the Canton Fair, where innovative products like lithium battery-powered pressure washers are showcased.
