China's new medium-sized stealth fighter jet, the J-35A, is equipped with a China-developed engine, a spokesman of the People's Liberation Army (PLA) Air Force told a press conference on Wednesday at the ongoing 15th China International Aviation and Aerospace Exhibition in Zhuhai, Guangdong Province.
The much anticipated J-35A on Tuesday made its debut by performing a dazzling flying display at the airshow, which runs from Tuesday to Sunday.
"The PLA Air Force shows sincerity at this airshow, particularly with the debut of J-35A, which is equipped with a domestically developed engine. This demonstrates our commitment and innovation. This jet's debut also marks the expansion of the Air Force's most powerful fighter jets from three (J-10C, J-16, J-20) to four.
