Storyline

The Russian military said that its forces have repelled Ukrainian attacks in areas including Kharkov and Avdiivka, while Ukraine, on the same day, reported striking energy facilities in Russia's Astrakhan Oblast with drones, according to their Monday updates on the conflict.

The Russian Defense Ministry announced on Monday that it had repelled multiple Ukrainian offensives and launched several counterattacks in areas of Kharkov, Avdiivka, Donetsk, Zaporozhye and Kherson over the past 24 hours, destroying seven armored vehicles, 25 cars, and various other equipment.

Meanwhile, Russian air defense forces downed one Ukrainian Su-27 fighter jet and 199 drones, while intercepting seven U.S.-made HIMARS rockets and four French-made Hammer guided bombs, according to the ministry.

On the same day, Ukraine's General Staff of the Armed Forces released an update on the situation, claiming that as of Monday afternoon, 53 battles had occurred in frontline areas.

Ukrainian missile and artillery units targeted 18 Russian personnel and equipment concentration areas, one ammunition depot, two command posts, one electronic warfare platform, two air defense systems, and four artillery systems.

Additionally, the Ukrainian military reported drone strikes on an energy facility in Russia's Astrakhan region and an oil refinery in Volgograd.

On Monday, U.S. President Donald Trump told reporters at the White House that he hopes to reach a deal with Ukraine for the access to the country's rare earth minerals and other resources as compensation for continued U.S. support to Ukraine.

The Ukrainian side has yet to respond to the proposal.
