Storyline

The ongoing fifth China International Consumer Products Expo (CICPE), which opened Sunday in Haikou, south China's Hainan Province, launched its first supply-demand matchmaking event on Monday, creating a dynamic space for productive partnerships and facilitating the finalization of transactions between exhibitors and buyers.

Over 110 companies from more than 10 countries and regions took part in the matchmaking event, resulting in signed contracts worth over 6 billion yuan (about 823.69 million U.S. dollars).

Exhibitors at the expo highlighted the growing potential of the China market and the collaborative opportunities for global businesses, from vacation partnerships in Hainan to advocating for free trade.

"We definitely think that the China market is very important. We believe there are a lot of opportunities for vacation destinations in Hainan, and that's why we are here to develop those partnerships, with retail partners, hotel partners and entertainment partners," said a U.S. exhibitor.

"For us, the Hainan Expo is a perfect opportunity to introduce our brand to the world. I think that free trade is key and it's by working together and [an] open international market that we will be able to grow the future together," said a French exhibitor.

This year's expo will feature three specialized supply-demand matchmaking events held both online and offline. It will also establish a purchaser alliance to facilitate the entry of international brands into China and aid Chinese brands in their global expansion.

"So far, more than 10 enterprises have signed contracts in succession. There are many overseas purchasers, such as those from France, Italy and Switzerland. We bring together all our member units with purchasing resources, share resources and build our purchasing network," said Tang Ying, an official from the Hainan Provincial Bureau of International Economic Development.

The CICPE, China's only national-level consumer goods exhibition, brings together over 1,700 companies from 71 countries and regions, showcasing more than 4,100 brands and highlighting global innovation.
