The newly dubbed Chinese animated blockbuster "30,000 Miles from Chang'an" showcasing the heyday of ancient China's Tang Dynasty (618-907) was premiered in Taiwan on Monday and released for public screening in the region on Wednesday.
The movie was dubbed in Minnan dialect, a widely spoken Chinese dialect in Taiwan. Minnan literally means "southern Fujian Province", and Fujian sits opposite the Taiwan island across the Taiwan Strait.
Audiences from news media, film and television industries, colleges and universities attended the premier ceremony and interacted with the Minnan dubbing actors.
"The movie used animation, and even poems and songs, to showcase the heyday of the Tang Dynasty, so that all the audience members, including children, can know what the Tang Dynasty is, and where these poems and songs should be used, and the sentiments and moods of the poets," said a moviegoer.
The filmmaking is based on the legendary stories of well-known Tang poets such as Li Bai and Gao Shi, and naturally integrates 48 famous Tang poems into the narrative, depicting the feelings of Tang people through the familiar poems and the poets' life experiences.
