Storyline

China's e-commerce logistics sector continued to show robust growth in April thanks to various policies aiming at stabilizing economic growth, expanding domestic demand, and boosting consumption, according to the latest data from the China Federation of Logistics and Purchasing on Friday.

The data showed that the country's e-commerce logistics index stood at 111.1 points in April, an increase of 1.1 points from the previous month.

Major sub-indices also increased compared to last month, according to the data.

Specifically, the total e-commerce logistics business volume index has continued to rise. In April, it reached 129.4 points, an increase of 2.6 points from the previous month.

The rural e-commerce logistics business volume index also rose, reaching 129.0 points in April, up by 3.3 points from last month. All regions in the country saw an increase in the rural business volume index, with the eastern region showing the largest month-on-month growth.

Meanwhile, driven by the ongoing increase in demand, companies are actively expanding their hiring and workforce reserves. As a result, the personnel index ended four consecutive months of decline, rising by 0.9 points from the previous month.

Additionally, the supply-demand matching has improved, with the actual loading rate index returning to above 110 points. The indices for logistics efficiency, inventory turnover, and customer satisfaction have all continued to rise, and the fulfillment rate index has surpassed 100 points for the first time this year.

"Since April, the e-commerce consumption sector has been very active, with the total business volume index increasing. This indicates robust consumer demand and highlights the resilience and potential of the Chinese economy. Overall, China has a strong internal driving force for economic growth," said Liu Yuhang, director of China Logistics Information Center.

In May, the five-day May Day holiday further boosted tourism consumption. Additionally, some export-oriented companies are shifting their focus to strengthen their presence in the domestic markets, which will promote e-commerce consumption and logistics. It's expected that the e-commerce logistics index in China will continue to rise steadily in May.
