Chinese President Xi Jinping's state visit to Russia has been warmly received by residents in Moscow, who see it as a powerful symbol of the enduring friendship between the two countries.
Xi arrived in Moscow on Wednesday for a state visit and to attend celebrations marking the 80th anniversary of the Victory in the Soviet Union's Great Patriotic War, at the invitation of Russian President Vladimir Putin.
In street interviews conducted by China Global Television Network (CGTN), residents in the Russian capital city expressed appreciation for Xi's presence to the Victory Day celebrations and optimism for the future of China-Russia relations.
"I think it is wonderful that the president of our friendly neighbor China is personally attending such a significant event in our country, the 80th anniversary of the victory in the Soviet Union's Great Patriotic War," said Larisa, an accountant.
"This is very good news. It can enrich both countries. It can further enhance the friendship between China and Russia," said Vladimir, an exhibition coordinator.
"I think this is a wonderful opportunity to showcase the strong and friendly ties between the Chinese and Russian people. I think this visit is significant for the Russian people," said Irina, a seamstress.
Residents spoke highly of the Russia-China friendship and expressed hope for continued development in bilateral ties.
"I believe our bilateral ties will grow stronger year by year," said Karina, a sales manager.
As Russia and China continue to strengthen their diplomatic and economic ties, many citizens are hopeful for deeper people-to-people connections as well.
"(Russia-China relations are) very good, even very positive. I think it is necessary to better develop the friendship between China and Russia. I hope that in addition to high-level exchanges, more ordinary people also visit Russia," said Vladimir.
