3. SOUNDBITE (Chinese) Lin Jian, spokesman, Ministry of Foreign Affairs (starting with shot 2):
"China has made it clear time and again that fentanyl is an issue for the U.S., not for China, and the responsibility lies in U.S. itself. The U.S. ignores China's goodwill and has imposed unreasonable tariffs on China over the fentanyl issue, which seriously undermines the counter-narcotics dialogue and cooperation between the two countries, and severely harms China's interests. The U.S. should stop smearing and shifting blame onto China, and engage in dialogue in an equal, respectful and mutually beneficial way, if the U.S. truly wants to cooperate with China."

Chinese Foreign Ministry spokesman Lin Jian pointed out on Tuesday that the unreasonable tariffs the United States levied on China over its fentanyl crisis severely undermine counter-narcotics dialogue and cooperation between the two countries.
At a regular press briefing in Beijing, Lin reiterated China's position on the U.S. fentanyl issue when responding to the prospects for talks on the issue.
