Chinese Vice Premier Ding Xuexiang on Tuesday met respectively with Deputy Speaker of Serbia's National Assembly Marina Ragus, First Deputy Prime Minister of Uzbekistan Achilbay Ramatov, and Iranian Vice President Hossein Afshin, who are in Chengdu City, southwest China's Sichuan Province, to attend the Second Belt and Road Conference on Science and Technology Exchange.

When meeting with Ragus, Ding, also a member of the Standing Committee of the Political Bureau of the Communist Party of China (CPC) Central Committee, said that China is willing to work together with Serbia to implement the important consensus reached by the two heads of state, support each other's major concerns and core interests, and deepen high-quality Belt and Road cooperation.

China stands ready to join hands with Serbia to turn sci-tech innovation into a new growth point of the bilateral relations, to promote more achievements in the building of a China-Serbia community with a shared future in the new era, he said.

For her part, Ragus said that Serbia cherishes the ironclad friendship between Serbia and China, and firmly upholds the one-China principle.

The country is willing to enhance pragmatic cooperation with China in such fields as economy and trade, investment, and science and technology, she said.

During the meeting with Ramatov, Ding said that China will work with Uzbekistan to further consolidate political mutual trust and traditional friendship, seek closer synergy between development strategies, and deepen cooperation in such areas as connectivity, economy and trade, and sci-tech innovation with solid progress within the framework of high-quality Belt and Road cooperation.

Ramatov said that Uzbekistan is willing to deepen pragmatic cooperation with China under the guidance of the strategic common understanding between the heads of state of the two countries, so as to advance the two countries' comprehensive strategic partnership.

When meeting with Afshin, Ding said that China will make joint efforts with Iran to implement the China-Iran comprehensive cooperation plan, promote high-quality Belt and Road cooperation, further tap the potential of cooperation in science and technology, continuously enrich the China-Iran comprehensive strategic partnership, to bring more tangible benefits to the people of the two countries.

For his part, Afshin noted that Iran attaches great importance to developing relations with China, adding that the country stands ready to work with China to build closer bond between the people, implement the comprehensive cooperation plan, and promote new progress in cooperation in sci-tech and other fields.

The three-day Second Belt and Road Conference on Science and Technology Exchange, which opened in Chengdu on Tuesday, features 38 events across five categories: major events, thematic activities, special events, roundtables, and technology matchmaking sessions.

The event gathered attendees from over 100 countries and international organizations.
