"It's now around 20:00 local time on Sunday. I am now in Jerusalem. About 10 minutes ago, the Israel Defense Forces issued another alert, reporting that missile attacks had been detected coming from the direction of Iran. Shortly after, air defense sirens sounded in Jerusalem and central Israel. We can see the missile flying across the night sky. I have just seen air defense missiles launched from the ground by the Israeli air defense system, which should be used to intercept the incoming missiles."
Iran launched a fresh aerial attack on Israel on Sunday night, injuring at least two people and igniting fires, Israeli authorities said.
The attack came shortly after Israel announced its warplanes had begun a new wave of airstrikes in western Iran, targeting missile launchers.
Air warning sirens were activated in multiple areas across northern, southern, and central Israel, as well as in the occupied Golan Heights, sending residents to shelters, according to the Israeli military. Loud explosions were heard in Tel Aviv and other cities, eyewitnesses said.
According to China Media Group reporter Zhao Bing, the Israel Defense Forces (IDF) issued an alert for missile attacks from Iran at around 20:00 local time, and air defense sirens were sounded in Jerusalem and central Israel.
"We can see the missile flying across the night sky. I have just seen air defense missiles launched from the ground by the Israeli air defense system, which should be used to intercept the incoming missiles," he said in a video flip filmed in Jerusalem.
The current escalation was triggered by Israel's deadly surprise strike targeting nuclear facilities across Iran on Friday. The attack killed dozens of senior military officials, nuclear scientists and civilians in Iran, and triggered retaliatory missile and drone attacks that have killed at least 14 people in Israel.
Iran's Health Ministry spokesman Hossein Kermanpour said on Sunday that 244 people have been killed in Israeli airstrikes on Iran over the past 65 hours, adding that that over 90 percent of the casualties were civilians.
