So, that was quite worrying for me."

"I'm living in a shelter, so it's kind of fine, but we could still hear the sound of bombs and sometimes feel the buildings shaking. But most of the time, it was fine, it was safe. Because I have already studied for a year and a half, so I will for sure come back to finish my study and then go back to China at the end of this year, hopefully."

The first group of 119 Chinese citizens evacuated from Israel arrived in the Egyptian capital Cairo on Friday.
The evacuees crossed the border between Israel and Egypt at the Taba land port in Egypt's South Sinai Province on Thursday.
"I have been in Israel since 2018, so actually war is not a very new word for me. But this time seems different, because this time, the whole war started in 2023, and the most worrying thing is that Iran would join. Every night, we have to wake up one to three times. That is really, really harming us," said Sun Xue, an evacuated Chinese student.
"I'm a student actually in the UK. I traveled to Israel. And then, this war thing happened, and I got trapped there. Now, I'm in Egypt with the embassy's arrangement. But, it was definitely concerning, because I have never experienced war before. China is very safe, the UK is very safe. All airports are closed, so it was almost impossible to get out. So, that was quite worrying for me," said Xiao Yaxuan, another evacuated Chinese student.
According to the Chinese Embassy in Egypt, all those evacuated from Israel are students, most of whom are uncertain about when they can return to school.
"I'm living in a shelter, so it's kind of fine, but we could still hear the sound of bombs and sometimes feel the buildings shaking. But most of the time, it was fine, it was safe. Because I have already studied for a year and a half, so I will for sure come back to finish my study and then go back to China at the end of this year, hopefully," said Jia Zhang, another evacuated Chinese student.
