China's top political advisor Wang Huning on Sunday met with Thailand's National Assembly President and Speaker of the House of Representatives Wan Muhamad Noor Matha in Beijing.
Wang, a member of the Standing Committee of the Political Bureau of the Communist Party of China Central Committee and chairman of the National Committee of the Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference (CPPCC), said that China stands ready to work with Thailand to take the 50th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic ties between the two countries as an opportunity to carry forward the traditional friendship of "China and Thailand as close as one family," strengthen the political, economic, and people-to-people foundations of the China-Thailand community with a shared future, and better benefit the peoples of both countries.
The CPPCC National Committee stands ready to contribute to the development of bilateral relations, Wang added.
For his part, Wan Muhamad Noor Matha said that the friendship between Thailand and China has a long history, and the notion of "Thailand and China as close as one family" has taken deep root among the people.
Thailand supports the series of global initiatives proposed by President Xi Jinping and is willing to strengthen cooperation with China in various fields, he said.
Noting that this year marks the 50th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between Thailand and China, Wan Muhamad Noor Matha said that Thailand's National Assembly is ready to enhance exchanges and cooperation with the Chinese side to promote the common development and prosperity of both countries.
